Jegna is excited to announce its partnership with Gerar – The Creative Hub to develop an online resource center that up and coming creatives and agencies can tap into for industry best practices. Dubbed “The Agency Kit”, this resource center provides current information on how they can start and run a successful advertising agency.
Founded by Seminas Hadera, Gerar is a creative hub where different freelancers and agencies come together to get market exposure, business development, mentorship, and consultation. Located in Addis Ababa, Gerar helps them function efficiently and effectively to grow their business. They provide space, resources, and industry knowledge for freelancers and startups in marketing and advertising.

Seminas started as a graphic designer before he decided to start his own advertising agency. Without access to mentors with industry experience, tools and resources he had to overcome several hurdles over the course of 15 years as he built his agency from the ground up. Hungry to give back to the community, Seminas identified an opportunity to help and encourage other creative entrepreneurs by building a framework for successfully launching a marketing and advertising firm in Ethiopia. This was when he looped in Jegna.

After outlining an initial plan, Jegna began to assemble a team of professionals by recruiting industry experts within the U.S. to ensure the successful launch of the project. Jegna was able to pull together an all-star team of industry professionals, including Semhar Amdemichael, Vice President of Programmatic Media Assembly, and Daleele Alison, Founder and CEO of Digital Rooks, that were eager to jump on board so they could share valuable knowledge with entrepreneurs in Ethiopia that otherwise would not have access to such information.

The Agency Kit will cover several key topics including industry best practices in the following four areas.
1. Advertising Agency Structure
2. Remuneration Strategy
3. Developing and Managing Portfolios
4. Client Acquisition Strategy
The Agency Kit will also include additional resources, such as books, articles and podcasts, and will ultimately become a living online resource that is updated regularly by Gerar. In addition to The Agency Kit, the volunteer experts will host a series of panel discussions which will provide an opportunity to dive deep into each topic and creates an engaging forum for entrepreneurs in Ethiopia to ask questions and interact with the experts.
